John Demsey has held this position since July 2006, overseeing a wide portfolio of brands, including Estée Lauder, M•A•C Cosmetics, Tom Ford Beauty, Prescriptives, Bobbi Brown, Jo Malone, La Mer and Smashbox. A creative visionary and strategic thinker, he has shown a unique ability to establish a brand's authority and drive unparalleled growth and expansion.
Demsey joined the Estée Lauder Companies in 1991 as vice president, sales for the Estée Lauder brand in its West Coast region. As its president from 1998 until 2005, he grew M•A•C from a niche brand into the top prestige makeup brand in the U.S.
Demsey serves as chairman of the M•A•C AIDS Fund and is active in the Fashion Group International, the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS; Love Heals; the Alison Gertz Foundation for AIDS Education; the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation and AIDS Project Los Angeles.
He has held executive positions with Revlon, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Benetton and Saks Fifth Avenue. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from New York University.
